DALLAS – June 1, 2017 — LEO Cyber Security, a Dallas-based strategic cyber security advisory and operations firm, announced today that attorney and former NASA flight controller, Seth Jaffe, will be joining its team of highly-experienced cyber security experts to support LEO’s rapidly expanding incident response division.

“LEO values trailblazers with operational knowledge, deep experience, and creative spirit,” said David Deering, founder and CEO of LEO. “Seth’s unique work in the field of incident response brings value to our clients, helping them meet the increasing demands to quickly and effectively respond to the growing number of cyber security events.”

After several years at a large global law firm, Seth served as the technology attorney at a major U.S. airline, where he was the lead legal member of the incident response team. In that role, he was responsible for developing incident response procedures and policies, facilitating effective emergency communication between team members, and responding to actual incidents. Seth also sat on an executive steering committee responsible for making strategic decisions about the company incident response plan and socializing cyber security issues to executives.

During his nearly fifteen year tenure at NASA’s Manned Space Flight Center, Seth worked in Mission Control, where he was certified on both the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station (“ISS”). He also served as a senior flight controller, evaluator and instructor. There he trained candidates to react to time-sensitive emergency situations, taking part in more than 100 simulations, logging 3000 plus hours flying the ISS.

“A company’s response to an incident is directly correlated to its plan, process and training, a fact that was made clear through my years of experience in Mission Control,” said Jaffe. “I love this field because it marries my data protection and privacy experience with my time as a flight controller, and presents a real opportunity to evolve the industry’s view of incident response. LEO’s modular IR framework provides procedures unique to our clients, boosts training efficiency, and accelerates team proficiency.”
