Mission & Team

A Cyber Operations Company

LEO is a business comprised of seasoned and creative practitioners who have the lengthy experience and operational knowledge needed to architect, build, and operate cyber programs for our customers.

DAVID DEERING

In an industry known primarily for dark rooms and guys in hoodies, it’s easy to think technology is the answer. But after nearly two decades consulting some of the world’s largest companies on Cyber Security, David realized product was not the answer. Effective cyber security programs require a customized approach focused on people first, process second followed by technology at the appropriate price and time. And so LEO was born. Prior to founding LEO, David was involved with three other startups, two that were acquired, IronPort and OpenDNS, and one that went public.

DAVID TOMPKINS

David is our mountaineer and growth-master. He’s been to the summit and back multiple times holding leadership and founding roles in some of the industry’s most respected cyber advisory and technology providers. His last trek was with FireEye-Mandiant as an original member of the founding team resulting in one of the biggest IPOs in InfoSec history. Following the acquisition of Mandiant, David jumped into the real fight going behind enemy lines helping companies and governments battle through some of the greatest breaches in history.

SETH JAFFE

Seth is our official rocket scientist in residence. Hailing from NASA’s Mission Control Center, Seth brings a unique perspective to incident response, applying aspects of one of the world’s preeminent emergency operations platforms to cyber response. In addition to twenty-plus years’ of technical experience, Seth was previously a member of the data protection task force at a large law firm, and served as the lead legal team member of an incident response team at a major U.S. airline. Seth is a certified business continuity professional, and he holds a juris doctorate, which is why he also wears the General Counsel hat at LEO.

Emily Adams

Emily is our Californian turned Texan. While she spends most of her working hours helping the leadership team scale, she mostly enjoys helping all the LEOs run as efficiently as possible. We affectionately call her the “LEO grandma” for multiple reasons; she’s our longest standing employee, fiercely protective of the team and she’s been known to distribute teddy graham valentine’s when February rolls around. In her free time Emily enjoys pilates/barre classes and spending time with her family on their work-in-progress homestead!

One day, he hopes to know enough to realize that he knows nothing. Mikhail holds an Offensive Security certification (OSCP) and, although he is a “Russian hacker”, his hat is white and his directive is to protect.

Glenn Sweeney

Glenn Sweeney is a trailblazer of Incident Response and Security Operations, particularly for global organizations. Glenn has over 15 years of experience from thinking on his feet. Aiden Noel

Being part of the team who took home First Place and Best Financial Product at Proof of Hack in 2017 is pretty cool. But for Aidan Noel, it was a walk in the park. As a rising star in the world of cyber, Aidan has a hand in just about everything at LEO as Security Software Developer. He’s developing software in C++ to monitor malware persistence mechanisms, scripting procedures in Python to gather information from Security Onion servers, building an analyst front end in PHP, JavaScript, and MySQL for LEO’s event tracking system, and more. With so many great projects already under his belt, we at LEO expect Aidan to be a key part of many more winning projects.

LYNN L HARRIS III

How does LEO stay at the top of its game? Just ask eight-year Navy Veteran Lynn L. Harris III. Lynn’s diligence in maintaining a strong awareness of the current landscape of Cyber Security threats has been an integral asset to countless solutions for LEO customers. Lynn has been crucial in managing LEO’s operations by deterring, identifying, monitoring, investigating, and analyzing computer network intrusions.
