Cyber veteran, venture capitalist, and Bain Capital partner Jeff Williams joins LEO
Jeff has been a contributing force behind several of the most notable cyber security successes of the last twenty years. He served in founding leadership roles at FireEye, Inc. resulting in an IPO (NASDAQ: FEYE), IronPort Systems (acquired by Cisco), and IntruVert Networks (acquired by McAfee). Jeff has also served on the Board of Directors of cloud security startup OpenDNS (acquired by Cisco), cloud security company Adallom (acquired by Microsoft), and Meraki Wireless (acquired by Cisco).
Commenting on the announcement, LEO Founder David Tompkins stated, “I’ve had the incredible pleasure of working with Jeff for many years now. He’s been a friend and mentor and anyone of note in our industry knows he is nothing short of a force of nature.” David Deering, Co-Founder at LEO, shares the same excitement. “I worked with Jeff for several years at IronPort,” said Deering. “It’s an honor and a privilege to have Jeff involved in LEO. Jeff will help shape LEO’s accelerated growth plan and the overall GTM strategy.”
“I’ve worked closely with both David Tompkins and David Deering in the past. Both are accomplished leaders with a deep understanding of the challenges facing our industry,” stated Williams. “The decision to join the LEO team was an easy one as LEO is tackling one of the most critical problems facing our industry – the massive shortage of cyber security professionals.” Williams continues “I’ve been impressed watching how LEO has evolved and, in such a short time, shown they can help address this problem. I’m pleased to be involved and look forward to advising the LEO team.”
